Father's positve model

I feel excited to share in the victory of 13 year old Jordan Romero of California reaching Mt Everest. I hope a number of parents especially fathers see that they have a heavy task of modelling for their children.
Jordan said said that he was inspired by the painting of the seven continents which showcase the highest summit placed in his school hallway. In reading the article I discovered that his father was with him. I am sure that he helped to train him and this is great.

Here is a positve example of how parents can help to stimulate the best in their children. Already he climbed mount Kilmanjaro in Africa and now Mount Everest.
There is no way that this 13 year old will be stifled. Already his orientation can be seen. As a parent I know that he will be a star because he instrinsically motivated. To reach this far is no baby feat, it takes courage, discipline, inner strength and a confidence only God alone can give.

With father's day around the corner I think his father must be congratulated for being there. This feat should not go unoticed since there are so many odd against the males in nearly every society so again congratulations!

Travelling is risky despite technology!

No one can safely say that travelling is not a risk even with the best of technology. A number of aircrafts encounter challenges with the elements of nature from to time to time and a number of persons become victims of crashes. Some of these crashes have had no victims which is nothing short of a miracle from God for example in Jamaica nearly 300 persons survived although the pilot overshot the runway and the aircraft was smashed then split into two. Others have not escaped the hand of death as what took place in India yesterday.

Imagine only eight survivors from Air India Express ! One hundred and fifty eight persons perished after the plane overshot the runway. According to the reports, the Boeing 737-800 aircraft landed outside the Mangalore's Bajpe airport; the cause, low visibility.

Although guidelines have been set to allivate some of the eventualities if a crash occur not all concern have heeded the call. In the case of india the area could not accommodate one of the safety features mentioned by the international Civil Aviation Organization and the pilots' groups.
The group have requested the airports to construct a 300 yard long safety extension at the end of each runway for extra protection. This was not so because the area is on a plateau. So they should build soft groundlayers that is called arrestors beds, the aim is to slow the plane as much as is possible.
This crash is described as the deadliest in India since the mid collision between Kazakh cargo near New Delhi that killed 349 persons. Prime Minister Manmohan Sigh promised compensation for families of victims.
These crashes are cause for concern as we have to move from place to place. One of the lessons for us to remember is to have patience and heed warnings. Are our pilots and airport authorites doing doing this?

School is not safe anymore

More and more the various incidents that happen at school cause us as parents to wonder what will happen next. Even the little ones at the elementary school are not safe within the facility as the little ones target their fellow schoolmates. The school does not have to be large for an incident to occur; They injury, beat upon them or even teach them to do rude things. This thought was triggered by an incident that recently took place in a multigrade school.
I was told by a principal that one of his students came and reported to him that a fellow student came into the bathroom that he was using, peered inside and took his photograph using a cellphone while he was on the toilet. He cried. He was offended by this act and felt humilated and sadden. Imagine, why would a 9 year old want to invade his fellow schoolmate privacy ? Would you have thought that children would be so cruel to each other?
The issue of cellphones come to the fore and how it can be misused. Should a child this age have cellphone at school? I know this can stimulate a lot of discussions which can be plausiable but is it wise for a youngster to have such an instrument to cause such stir?

Should integrity be taught to our leaders?

I have been observing that a number of our leaders are not ethical in their dealings albeit personal or business. I am therefore wondering if this important virtue integrity is to be taught especially as men and women are thrust into high profile positions with heavy responsibilities and attendant ethical issues that must be deliberated upon in order to make wise choices. A number of political leaders whose career path have reached their peek are falling because of unfaithfulness and corruption. some have even died like dogs in the process. These personalities have done well and have attracted followers so that when they blunder a number of persons are affected. These persons feel let down and betrayed. This is evident in many societies and cultures wether large or small. What can be done to curb this monster of unethical dealings, corruption, unfaithfulness? Should the teachings of integrity be taught? what do you think?
